l.l. bean signature

Who can argue with the timeless style of an all-American brand that's been around for nearly 100 years? The L.L. Bean Signature Fall collection is full of classic pieces that won't soon go out of style. Here are some of my picks for the cooler months:

What do you think of L.L. Bean Signature?

81* and sunny

This outfit was perfect for a sunny fall day and a few long hours in an arctic classroom. I cuffed the sleeves of my Saint James tee and paired it with my size-too-small navy J. Crew chinos from high school.

Topped (bottomed?) off with Tory Burch sandals and my usual Timex.
The nails are OPI's Mod About You, which clearly called for a sassy face. Just kidding. This is the face I make 90% of the time.

g2g. Oprah is blowing my mind with Christine who used to be Chris who fathered her own twins, etc., etc., and now the cast of Modern Family!

we have a winner!

Mrs. Armour completely made my day when I learned that I was one of the lucky winners of a Southern Proper bow tie! I might have let out a little squeal when I read her e-mail (at my internship nonetheless, so profesh of me). I can't wait to add to my handsome boyfriend's tie collection. I plan on making my man model his new neckwear--when we're not 1,000 miles apart!

As for myself, I think I may need to indulge in one or a few Belle Bands:

And, of course, check out the Plucky Pioneer feature on Southern Proper's charming co-founder, Emmie Henderson Howard. Adorable!

femme fatale

I love all things feminine, pretty, floral, and flirty. Add a little whimsy and I'm SOLD. Perhaps that's why I fell in love with Cath Kidston's ladylike home featured in the August/September 2010 issue of Lonny.

white knuckles

If you haven't seen this yet (or even if you have), you MUST watch OK Go's new music video for White Knuckles (and again...and again). It premiered Monday on The Ellen Degeneres Show. How fitting! Who would've thought they could top the infamous treadmill video? I guess a bunch of cute dogs supporting the ASPCA can do that for you...

head. banging.

I seriously doubt that I could pull off the hippie headband look as well as this stylish lady, but I am loving these Berman headbands and accessories. Perfect for all seasons, but especially remarkable for adding that extra glimmer during the holiday season. Sign me up!

What's your take on the hippie headband style?

oliver m. furth

I am loving this evening's dreamy Tastemaker Tag Sale over at One King's Lane featuring the fabulous Oliver M. Furth. I love that, true to his philosophy, Mr. Furth has chosen classically elegant pieces that are both functional and interesting.

"At its essence, my work amounts to visual biography. I am not just concerned with simple aesthetics. Design should embody lifestyle, personality, location...personal history."

today's need

Today, I really need this elephant print dress. Yes, I know, summer is coming to an end. BUT--I still have many a day-drinking event to attend including tailgates and Homecoming. And, it's still hitting a cool 99 degrees here in Memphis. Here's to hoping I can find my size for a reasonable price!

dirty jersey

How am I supposed to study for my exam when I'm taking off for Princeton tomorrow?? As much as I hate doing the LDR thing--going on year three of this nonsense--I love my weekend getaways to visit that cutie pie bf of mine. It's just icing on the cake that I get to flee Memphis for charming little Princeton.

Oh yeah, and B.o.B. is performing on Sunday. Seriously. And this CD is 100% worth purchasing in its entirety. I loved hearing "Nothin' on You" on the radio and was pleasantly surprised when the rest of the album was even better. Don't you love when that happens?

What are you doing this weekend? I'm back to studying for now. But maybe I should just pack first?

in case you missed it...

Jonathan Adler rolled out some new needlepoint accessories today. I've always loved his cheeky and patterned needlepoint pillows, but I absolutely adore the new needlepoint footstools and paperweights!

What are your thoughts?

242 days...

I'd like to thank my local Career Services team for scaring the living shit out of me. Does shit live? I couldn't tell you. But I can tell you that I have exactly 242 days until graduation thanks to their daily e-mail reminders. I figured I should channel my angst and anxiety about entering the career market into something productive....like finding the cutest possible calling cards.

What's your take on calling cards?

As long as you don't go overboard, I think having a fun and memorable calling card adds a bit of personality to networking and job-searching and could help recruiters remember you.

oops!

I stumbled upon these entertaining "Worst of NY Fashion Week" pictures and had to share. Enjoy!

I know, it's no consolation for being 1,000 miles away from all of the action, but at least it's a little humorous, right?

somewhere over the...

...rainbow bookshelf. Sometimes displaying stuff you already have can make the best artwork. These rainbow bookshelves fit the bill for a colorful and interesting conversation piece...for free! Now, if only my book collection was so colorful. And, if only I didn't have the compulsive need to organize everything alphabetically.

Can I have the pug, too, please?

Bikram the fashionista

Lucky me, this evening Bikram Choudhury spoke on my campus! I rushed out of recruitment practice and made it (about 30 minutes before he started, apparently he's always late) in time to hear the infamous and controversial Bikram speak about yoga, life, India, etc. While I love to attend the occasional Bikram Yoga class, I'll admit that I'm a little skeptical of some of his preachings. I mean, the man said, "What's the best kind of food? No food." He's got to be a little off his rocker.

With a nickname like "The Bill Gates of Yoga," you know Bikram has the cash to fund a pretty absurd wardrobe. Nonetheless, I was still surprised to see him wearing these Yves Saint Laurent Leopard Print Boots.
Unfortunately, I left my camera at home, but I was relieved when someone else asked about his shoes during the questions segment! He claims he got them on sale, but we all know he can spare the $795. His custom suit on the other hand, was allegedly a mere $15.00 and made of silk that he purchased in Soeul, Korea. Bikram's ensemble was completed with a white fedora and a brightly colored tie and pocket square. Regardless of his philosophy, he was quite the entertainer!
